Largo Porto João Ferreira

The work of Largo Porto João Ferreira, inserted within the requalification of Coruche Historical Center, was given as completed recently and the project assumptions were met, thus providing the population of Coruche a new experience and interaction with other cultural nature spaces and recreation along the river Sorraia recently intervened.

This work complements the intervention in marginal Coruche by the river, also in charge of this team and already achieved a few years, where the organization of car and pedestrian traffic is considered an odd condition in upgrading the entire public space of this waterfront and contact the Historical Center.

Alongside all this intervention at the waterfront, was still set by another team a “line of contact” with the river through the implementation of a new structure consisting of a retaining wall, access to the river and its beaches, as well as areas stay in pergolas of metal and wood shade, that arise with the new proposal of marginal and Largo, both in charge of this team.

The redevelopment of areas adjacent to the historic centers are of great importance, not only the way allow these same centers creating biunivocal relations with these areas, but also as a contribution to reducing the “distance” that these centers to today presented regarding the peripheries, thus providing a unification of the city’s roles in contributing to improving the quality of life and (re)creation of new experiences in the historic areas, increasing investment in them and bringing back their “people.”
